6 things you need for soccer camp

Summer is finally here and the kids are out of school and soccer camp is right around the corner. Here are the 6 things you’ll want to make sure you have so you’re ready to have a great summer soccer season!

Cleats

Cleats are the most important piece of soccer equipment that you’ll need. Cleats help provide great traction on the field and keep players from slipping and sliding around. Since soccer is played by using your feet, cleats are vital in helping to keep your feet protected from the impact of a ball or another player’s foot. Soccer cleats help play a vital role in a players performance, safety, and overall experience on the field.

Shin Guards

Did you ever play soccer in elementary? I did, and one time I remember getting kicked in the shin…why would they let us play soccer without shin guards? Shin guards are super important, because they keep your shins safe from the ball and accidental kicks from another player. Soccer involves physical contact, so wearing shin guards helps reduce the risk of serious injury, such as bruises or fractures. Wearing shin guards will help players feel confident knowing their shins are safe and protected.

Soccer Socks

It’s no surprise that socks are needed for soccer. Soccer socks are great not only because they’re super long, but they help provide an extra layer of protection over your shin guards. Soccer socks can be moisture-wicking to help keep feet a little more during practice, as well as provide extra cushion and support to prevent blisters or any discomfort.

Soccer Ball

The most fundamental piece of equipment you’ll need in soccer, is no surprise, a soccer ball. Visit any sporting goods stores, and you’ll probably be amazed by the vast number of different balls there are…and if you’re brand new to soccer, you’ll likely see a number, 3, 4, 5, and think, ‘what on earth does that mean?’ Size 3 balls are typically used for young children, size 4 for older youth players, and size 5 for adults and older youth players.

Water Bottle

It’s very important to stay hydrated, especially in the Houston, Texas heat during the summer, so having a water bottle that keeps drinks cold is essential. Soccer is a physically demanding sport that involves a lot of running, sprinting, and physical exertion; having a water bottle available for water breaks helps players maintain performance, focus, and overall health

Appropriate Attire

Having the right clothes for soccer makes a huge difference. Since soccer is an outdoor sport, it’s important to dress in athletic clothing. Soccer involves a lot of running, kicking, and physical activity. Wearing comfortable attire, such as moisture-wicking materials, allows players to move freely and comfortably on the field without restriction. Comfortable attire reduces distractions and helps players focus on their performance.
